In a little less than three months I will be boarding a plane for an adventure of a lifetime! There are so many preparations to be made that I wonder if I'll ever be fully ready. I want to do everything I can ahead of time to get the most out of my trip, which I never anticipated ever having the opportunity to go on.
I applied for the Fulbright Memorial Find grant without having any expectations of getting it; I truly just saw it as an opportunity to go through the experience of applying for a grant. So when the day came last March, when that little blue envelope came in the mail, I wasn't even going to bother opening it right away because I was sure they were notifying me that i was NOT selected. I couldn't believe my eyes when I read, "Congratulations on your selection..." I have been absolutely overwhelmed by the honor, and can't wait to share the entire experience with you all!
Since receiving my acceptance letter I have been busy buying several items I will need (slippers, books on Japan, etc.), getting my passport renewed, filling out lots of paperwork, creating my rad website, and reading as much as I can about all aspects of Japanese culture.
